Dr. Madison Moss, FAAO Cornea and Contact Lens Specialist

Dr. Madison Moss

FAAO

Dr. Madison Moss was born and raised in North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and later earned her Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. There, she also completed a specialized residency in Cornea and Contact Lens, gaining advanced expertise in vision care and specialty lens fittings. Dr. Moss lectures nationwide on topics related to contact lenses and myopia management and is a FAAO (Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry).

During her residency and private practice, Dr. Moss developed a passion for helping patients who struggle with standard glasses or contact lenses. She specializes in fitting medical and specialty contact lenses for conditions such as keratoconus, corneal grafts, trauma, post-surgical complications, and other corneal diseases.

Dr. Dannielle Richard, OD Cornea and Contact Lens Specialist

Dr. Dannielle Richard

OD

Dr. Richard grew up in Apex, NC and earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at UNC Wilmington. She then traveled to Boston to complete her Doctor of Optometry degree at The New England College of Optometry.

While in Boston, Dr. Richard spent over 10 years practicing alongside top ophthalmologists, developing specialized expertise in fitting medical and specialty contact lenses for patients with complex corneal conditions — including keratoconus, corneal transplants, and post-surgical rehabilitation.

Pentacam AXL Wave

Corneal Tomography

The AXL Wave performs corneal tomography to monitor for progression of corneal conditions, to determine candidacy for cross-linking, and to assess for proper fit of custom contact lenses, including orthokeratology and scleral contact lenses. With cornea tomography maps, our doctors design freeform contact lenses based on thousands of data points, resulting in an optimized fit and superior visual quality.

Scleral Topography

Scleral topography customizes scleral lens alignment by mapping a patient’s scleral shape up to an 18 mm diameter. If a scleral lens is uncomfortable, the majority of the time this discomfort is caused by poorly fitting edges. Scleral topography allows for precise landing of the scleral lens, preventing guess work during the fitting process. In addition, the scleral topography map will optimize fitting over irregular scleral profiles (the majority of scleral profiles are irregular) & scleral lens obstacles such as pterygia, pinguecula, blebs, etc. i.e, no more red eyes! This customization allows patients to have an optimized fit, resulting in comfortable wear. With the Pentacam AXL Wave software, free-form technology will be utilized for all orthokeratology, corneal gas-permeable, and scleral contact lenses. This allows for total customization of lenses, as each curve of the contact lens will be aligned to the patient’s corneal and scleral elevation and not based on a diagnostic lens fitting.

Biometry

Biometry capabilities help to monitor axial length change for patients prescribed myopia management with incredible consistency. The earliest signs of myopic progression will be detected within 100th of a mm.

Wavefront readings

Wavefront aberrometry can be utilized to design wavefront guided optics which can dramatically improve vision in specialty contact lenses

"Dr. Moss and assistant Hope at Raleigh Contact Lens Institue are truly remarkable. I can only wear rigid gas permeable contact lenses and was referred to Dr. Moss at RCL by my ophthalmologist. Wearing hard contact lenses for nearly 6 decades, I thought I knew what to expect. Even with reading the very positive reviews about Dr. Moss and her dedicated care before my first appointment, I was still so pleasantly surprised at her superior level of thoroughness, explanation, and ability in obtaining my best vision! I once again have 20/20 and the comfort in wearing my new RGPs is great! Thank you so much, Dr. Moss and Hope!"

"Dr. Moss and her staff are very unique in a very positive way. Dr. Moss's mannerism shows that she genuinely cares about her patients' eyes and well being. She has the latest equipment for examining patient's eyes, and she gave me back the vision I thought I lost many years ago. She has the patience of a saint, and is an excellent teacher/coach. She taught me how to install and remove my Scleral Lens, and how to maintain them in a very short amount of time. I highly recommend Dr. Moss to anyone with the need for eye care and specialized lens. As a special note, Hope provides a very competent and professional individual to the Moss's team, she and Dr. Moss are a great team."

"One of the most outstanding doctor visits I’ve ever had - and I’ve had a few. Dr. Moss was kind and caring, communicating the entire time what she was doing and why, and devoted all her time and attention to me. Refreshing! Results were clearly presented as were next steps. She gave me a sense of optimism, which I have not had in a long time. She was honest and genuine — I could not have asked for a better experience!"
