Improving Vision in
"Difficult to Fit" Eyes
Specialty Contacts Offer an Excellent Chance of Improved Vision
Most of the patients that are seen at Raleigh Contact Lens Institute have what some people might call “difficult to fit” eyes, and “difficult to fit” is the reason Raleigh Contact Lens Institute was established! A large portion of our patients are referred from other optometrists and ophthalmologists who trust us to care for their patients that have more unique vision requirements.
Raleigh Contact Lens Institute thrives with “difficult to fit” eyes, because we allow the time to adequately understand the situation, explore all possible scenarios, and make recommendations on treatment options.
Where else can you get 1-2 hours of one-on-one with the doctor during an initial exam? In addition to longer than usual examinations, and a dedication to excellent customer service, Raleigh Contact Lens Institute has specific and unique pieces of equipment that are designed to collect 240,000 data points on the shape of the eye.
Why Have I Been Told My Eyes are Difficult to Fit?
Sometimes there is an eye condition (such as keratoconus) that causes difficulty in achieving ideal vision. However, other times a patient might have been told that they have “difficult to fit” eyes because there is a combination of conditions and/or issues that are present. As an example, a patient may have a small corneal scar in their periphery, moderate dry eye which is causing inflammation and irritation, and steeper than normal corneas. Together these conditions combine to create a situation where, at a minimum, it’s very difficult to achieve excellent vision with traditional contacts or glasses.
